The Story Of Surrealism:

I remember the day very well; I took a quick trip down to Guitar center in the middle of May for my music fix. I walked in the door and noticed a used bass on sale. I had never touched the Bass one day in my life, never been trained to play it or even understood the dynamics. The Bass was calling me though; the owner of the Bass worked at guitar center and actually sold it to me. He told me that his son just upgraded to something new so he decided to sell his beginner “his baby” his first Bass.

I purchased the Bass and was excited to get home to try it out. I would be lying to you if I didn’t say that within 9 months I recorded each of these tracks on this album using my newly purchased Bass. This was not due to me rushing a project. It was truly based on the challenging, heartbreaking, creative, and amazing things that were unfolding in my life that begin to just spill out. I had just lost one of my first cousins named Kent shortly after visiting him in Charlotte North Carolina. I was 4 and a half years deep in my Marriage, and the experience was unmatched because of the struggles. I was so young and foolish; I was learning how to become a man and husband, sadly failing at the later. I thank my wife for sticking through it with me every day. The blessings were there as well; my wife was 5 months pregnant! We found out that we were going to have a baby girl.

A few months after our baby girl Cieara was born I was able to close out this project, and 9 years later pull it out of the vault to share it with my friends. I am happy to say that that my wife and I are still growing 14 years deep. My baby girl just turned 9 years old, and I look forward to seeing my cousin again in paradise. Now you may be wondering about the title “Surrealism”. Well I will let you all take the time to figure out what is so surreal about it all.
